Here he graduated from high school, showed the first inclinations of an organizer.

In 1958 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in "Technology of Mechanical Engineering, Metal-Cutting Machines and Tools". After graduating from the institute, he stayed to work at the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. He held the following positions: assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor of the Department of Cutting Materials and Cutting Tools.

In 1966 he defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Study of the process of diamond grinding of tool materials". Since 1967, Anatoliy Ivanovych has been an associate professor of the department, and since 1990 he has been a professor. In 1995 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Scientific Foundations of Diamond Grinding of Superhard Polycrystalline Materials".

From 1979 to 2017, A. I. Grabchenko was the head of the Department of Material Cutting and Cutting Tools (now the Department of Integrated Technologies of Mechanical Engineering named after M. F. Semko). For a long time, heading the department, he was the initiator of the creation of: the first branch of the department at the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute in production; the Faculty Center of Computer Technology; fundamentally new lecture courses and organization of training of engineers in 4 new specialties: "High Technologies in Mechanical Engineering", "Superhard Materials and Processing Processes", "Management and Marketing of High Technologies", "Integrated Generative Technologies of Mechanical Engineering". For many years, he headed the only in the former USSR Problem Laboratory of Physics of Cutting Processes with Tools made of Superhard Materials and the Branch Laboratory of Diamond Tools.

A.I. Grabchenko performed a number of fundamental works in the field of technology of processing materials by cutting, developed a series of studies on the machinability of a wide range of hard-to-work materials, formulated a number of scientific provisions on the interaction of diamond tools and processed material, created and developed a theory of controlling the process of grinding superhard materials by changing the speed of structural and topographic adaptation of the working surface of diamond wheels.

A.I. Grabchenko timely assessed the trends in creating effective high integrated technologies. He proposed the concept of integrated generative technologies of macro-, micro- and nano-levels; the development of scientific research in this direction is substantiated and organized; the first and so far the only center of high integrated technologies in Ukraine, equipped with modern equipment of additive technologies and software, was created. The department began training specialists in the field of generative technologies for the implementation of this ideology in production.

The results of A.I. Grabchenko's scientific work have been published in the form of more than 500 scientific papers in domestic and foreign publications, 14 monographs (including those with foreign co-authors), textbooks containing the results of scientific developments, reports at international and foreign conferences Original scientific provisions are protected by copyright certificates (more than 80) and patents (5 Ukrainian and 5 foreign).

        Anatoliy Ivanovich Grabchenko is an outstanding scientist in the field of processing materials by cutting. His scientific interests include problems of mechanics and physics of high-precision cutting, combined processes of grinding hard-to-process materials; creation of superhard materials and their use in advanced designs and technological processes; generative technologies for the manufacture of products. He is the author of the theory of control of the grinding process of superhard materials and the concept of three levels of generative technologies. He is the author of new grinding methods based on the control of the working surface of grinding wheels. This scientific direction has opened up new technological possibilities for diamond grinding of hard-to-work materials.

Anatoliy Ivanovych's scientific developments have been introduced at many enterprises in Ukraine, Hungary, Germany, in particular at the Poltava Diamond Plant, at the FED plant, Turboatom, Csepel Tool Plant (Budapest), at the University of Miskolc (Miskolc, Hungary), at the University of Magdeburg (Germany), etc.

I. Grabchenko founded and from 1990 to 2022 headed the permanent international program committee of the annual international scientific and technical seminar "INTERPARTNER" "High Technologies in Mechanical Engineering", which since 2018 has been transformed into Grabchenko's International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing Processes "InterPartner", the materials of which are submitted to the SCOPUS database and other indexing services, and the submission of reports is supported by the EasyChair conference management system.

He also headed the organizing committee of the annual international scientific and practical conference "MicroCAD" for many years. In addition, he was a member of the editorial board of a number of periodicals, for example, the international scientific and technical collection "Cutting and Tools in Technological Systems", founded in 1966.

A.I. Grabchenko trained more than 20 candidates and 5 doctors of technical sciences, and also actively participated in the process of attestation of scientists as an opponent, as deputy chairman of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission, and since 2004 as the chairman of the Specialized Council for the defense of dissertations for academic degrees.

As a high-level professional, A.I. Grabchenko was invited to work in the commission on mechanical engineering of the Committee on State Prizes of Ukraine, in the scientific Councils of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on certain problems. He was a member of the permanent program and organizing committees of international scientific forums and editorial boards of scientific publications in Hungary, Poland, Romania, Germany, the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Professional Council of Ukraine on Technical Mechanics.

The fruitful work of A. I. Grabchenko was repeatedly marked by honorary titles and awards, including:

"Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Ukrainian SSR" (1985);

Honorary Doctor (Honoris Causa), Honorary Professor of the University of Miskolc (Hungary, 1993);

Full Member of the American Association of Mechanical Engineers and Technologists SME/AMT (1994).

member of the Association of Technologists and Mechanical Engineers of Ukraine (1995);

Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education (1995);

Honorary Professor of the University of Petroșani (Romania, 1995);

Member of the International Association of Instrumentalists;

Honorary Doctor of Odessa National Polytechnic University, Donbas State Machine-Building Academy, National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" (2005);

Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (2008);

Honorary Professor of Zhytomyr State Technological University (2014).

In addition, he was awarded the Great Gold Medal of the University of Miskolc (Hungary), the Otto von Guericke Medal of Honor (University of Magdeburg, Germany), the Honorary Medal of V.
